VOLANTEXRC 5-Channel RC Sailplane RC Glider ASW 28 Plug-and-Play (PNP) with 2.6-meter wingspan, unibody ABS plastic hull and strong EPO foam

The Volantex ASW 28 is a 2.6-meter wingspan large sailplane. It comes with an almost indestructible unibody ABS plastic hull and strong EPO foam wings and tail section. With its smooth, stiff hull, the ASW 28 is durable for a lifetime and yet light enough for the glider to work without any problems. The huge space inside fuselage is able to carry big capacity batteries.


2.6m Glider Airplane with Landing Wheel

Accessing the battery is easy through the canopy with four small snap locks that keeps the canopy secure.

"These are actually pretty good gliders. The problem is the customer service. If it arrives damaged. (common because they don’t package it well at all) They will offer you $5 off on your next order. It’s a long and arduous process to get any reasonable satisfaction. I guess this is called customer service in China."

Volantex Phoenix S plastic glider

"ABS plastic body isn't the greatest idea for a fuselage. A foam fuse would've been much better, and lighter to boot. This glider is heavy without the battery inside it, because of the fuse. Barely any reinforcements inside so basically a plastic tube. In a crash this and any other fuse made of ABS isn't going to be repairable. Now let's talk about all the drag inducers. Trail edge of wing at the fuse has caps, inside of the wing filling it in. Next is the bulge at the rear for the Vertical and horizontal stab. Why? A bolt from bottom of fuse, passing through the horizontal stab and into the bottom of vertical fin. Instead let's put a bulge on both sides and take away from aerodynamics. In short a foam fuselage should've been used! This will be my first and last Volantex plane especially if I read ABS plastic fuselage. Not going to waste good money on plastic!"

Q&A

I noticed that the ASW28 comes with a 30 amp ESC, while the Phoenix 2400 has a 40 amp ESC. The models are very similar in size and weight, and both use the same 4023/1050KW motor. Why does the ASW28 have a lower capacity ESC, and what is the maximum amps specification for the 4023/1050KW motor? I couldn't find that information on the internet. Also, can replacement wings be purchased for the ASW28 if I ever need a new set?
Hi Mark, The ASW28 is designed for more gentle gliding flights, while the Phoenix2400 is designed for more capacity. The price for ASW28 at 2.6m wingspan is also inexpensive than the Phoenix2400 at 2.4m wingspan. Thus, the ASW28 is constructed with a 30A ESC, but able to upgrade to 40A ESC. The ASW28 is now constructed with the same 4025/1050kv motor to the Phoenix2400. The one you have with 850kv is from older production. The Phoenix 2400 comes with 40A ESC by default, you can use a 4S battery for it, and the AMP is around 35A. If you want to use 4S battery for the ASW28, you will have to upgrade the ESC to 40A.
if I buy the above model how much more will it cost me for bits to fly it
1 or 2 batteries and a transmitter and receiver.
